Iowa Retired School Personnel “Future Educator Achievement Award”

For a Metro High School graduating senior who plans to enter the teaching profession. Student must have been accepted into a teacher preparation program at an accredited college or university; must display exemplary school and community citizenship and financial need.

Irene Wiedeman Memorial Scholarship

To be awarded to an outstanding business education student planning to enroll in a program of business education at an institution of higher learning.

Jack & Jeanette Ernst “Grateful Grannies” Scholarship

In recognition of Jack and Jeanette Ernst and their longtime commitment to the “Grateful Grannies” organization, for two JHS seniors with any post high school education/ training plan. Students must have a strong work ethic, good moral character, financial need, and drive to be a positive presence in the world.

James & Janet Erbe Scholarship

In recognition of Jim and Janet Erbe, technical theatre directors at Jefferson and Kennedy, for a student active in their school’s technical theatre program, showing qualities of learning and leadership in any/ all aspects of technical theatre: set design and creation, lighting, sound, props, makeup, costumes, and stage management.

James & Peggy Livingston Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for a Metro High School graduate who will pursue higher education. Recommended by Principal.

James F. & Jacqueline K. Schneekloth Memorial Scholarship

In memory of James F. Schneekloth, a long-time associate principal at Kennedy High School, and his wife Jacqueline who taught District summer swimming lessons, for a Kennedy student that demonstrates the following values: caring dedication for the welfare of other people, provides willing service to the school, involved in school activities, hardworking attitude toward academics, and financial need.

James Miller Band Scholarship

To reward an outstanding student participating in WHS Band who meets the eligibility requirements set forth in the scholarship agreement document.

Jefferson Alumni Golf Apprenticeship Scholarship

Student(s) must be pursuing a career in one of the trades (electrical, carpentry, Sheet metal/HVAC, or Plumber/Pipefitter). Funds for formal trade appropriate training costs.

JFK Senior Leader Award

Given to a senior providing a lasting mark on Kennedy through spirit, service, and leadership. Once who will “leave Kennedy a better place and will leave a positive impression for years to come.”

Jim Bowen Memorial Baseball Scholarship

In memory of Jim Bowen, the scholarship will be given to a Jefferson young man who is dedicated to the sport of baseball and who has led by example on and off the field. His academic accomplishments and general citizenship at Jefferson should identify him as a young man of quality character and principles.

Joe Kenney Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a Jefferson High School varsity baseball player planning to attend a post-secondary institution of any kind.

John Hegarty Scholarship

In honor of John Hegarty, long time science teacher and wrestling coach at JHS, for a student who excels in the classroom and in the wrestling room.
